Decorative Concrete
Decorative concrete is a stamped and coloured concrete pad that is usually 4” thick.
4 inches of concrete is the minimum requirement for patios, sidewalks and basement floors. Firstly, an excavation will be done. Once the excavation is completed formwork will then be erected and heights will be established. When heights are being established, we ensure a minimum of 10% slope away from buildings to insure proper drainage. After we have our forms up, we will fill in the area with 4-6” of ¾ down gravel, wet it and then pack it. Once gravel has been packed, we will drill holes for dowels into any existing concrete around the new pad to structurally attach the two pads together by using 15 mm epoxy coated dowels. (this prevents heaving or movement between the two pads). We then lay out and tie 10mm rebar. The rebar layout will be 16” on center. Once all the prep work is completed, we will pour with 32 MPA concrete. The finish on the concrete that you desire will be then be achieved. The day after the pour we will saw cut the concrete for expansion joints, strip forms and preform a full site clean-up.
